Brown Sugar Pineapple Ham (Printable Version)

Juicy ham and pineapple chunks meld with a brown sugar glaze for a sweet-savory baked dish that comforts and satisfies.

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 450 grams cooked diced ham
02 - 250 grams canned pineapple chunks in juice, drained

→ Glaze

03 - 100 grams dark brown sugar
04 - 15 grams Dijon mustard
05 - 15 milliliters soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
06 - 60 milliliters reserved pineapple juice
07 - 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves (optional)
08 - Salt and black pepper, to taste

# Steps:

01 - Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius. Lightly grease a 23 by 33 cm baking dish to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
02 - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together brown sugar, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, reserved pineapple juice, and ground cloves until the sugar fully dissolves and the glaze is smooth.
03 - Distribute diced ham and pineapple chunks evenly in the prepared baking dish to ensure a balanced bite with every serving.
04 - Pour the prepared glaze evenly over the ham and pineapple. Gently toss with clean hands or a spatula to coat all pieces with the sticky glaze.
05 - Place the dish uncovered on the middle oven rack and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the glaze is caramelized, bubbly, and edges begin to brown.
06 - Allow the bake to rest for five minutes after removing from the oven to let the glaze set. Serve hot, ideally over steamed rice or alongside roasted vegetables.

# Notes:

01 - Drain pineapple thoroughly to prevent a watery glaze and ensure it thickens properly during baking.
02 - Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper after baking, as the ham contributes saltiness.
03 - Leftovers store well in an airtight container refrigerated up to four days; the glaze intensifies in flavor over time.
