Chicken Cheesesteak Provolone Onions (Printable Version)

Tender chicken, sautéed onions and peppers, melted provolone, and garlic aioli on a toasted hoagie roll create a bold flavor combo.

# Ingredients:

→ Protein

01 - 450 grams boneless, skinless chicken breasts, trimmed

→ Seasoning

02 - 1 tablespoon all-purpose seasoning blend (salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika)

→ Fats

03 - 15 milliliters olive oil or grapeseed oil
04 - 15 grams unsalted butter

→ Vegetables

05 - 1 medium yellow bell pepper, sliced
06 - 1 medium red bell pepper, sliced
07 - 1 medium yellow onion, sliced

→ Cheese

08 - 100 grams provolone cheese slices

→ Bread & Condiments

09 - 4 bakery-fresh hoagie rolls
10 - 30 grams garlic aioli or mayonnaise

# Steps:

01 - Lightly pound chicken breasts to an even thickness for uniform cooking and tenderness.
02 - Generously rub all surfaces of the chicken with the all-purpose seasoning blend.
03 - Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken breasts for 7 to 9 minutes per side until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 71°C. Add butter during the last minute of cooking, then remove and let rest to retain juices.
04 - Reduce heat to medium, melt remaining butter in the skillet, then add sliced bell peppers and onions. Season with a pinch of all-purpose seasoning and sauté for 5 to 7 minutes until soft and caramelized, stirring frequently.
05 - Thinly slice rested chicken and return it to the skillet with the vegetables. Toss together and remove skillet from heat.
06 - Place provolone slices evenly over chicken and vegetable mixture. Cover skillet and let rest for 3 to 5 minutes until cheese melts completely.
07 - Optionally toast hoagie rolls. Spread garlic aioli or mayonnaise inside. Evenly fill rolls with the chicken, vegetable, and melted cheese mixture. Serve immediately.

# Notes:

01 - Tenderizing chicken before cooking ensures juicy, evenly cooked slices.
02 - Using high-quality unsalted butter enhances flavor without overwhelming seasoning.
03 - Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to two days; reheat gently before serving.
