Savory ground beef skillet with rice, peppers, onions, and cheddar cheese cooked together for a quick, hearty meal.

# Ingredients:

→ Meat

01 - 450 grams lean ground beef (85% lean, 15% fat)

→ Vegetables

02 - 1 medium onion, diced (approx. 150 grams)
03 - 1 red bell pepper, diced (approx. 150 grams)
04 - 1 can (400 grams) diced tomatoes with green chiles (e.g., Rotel)
05 - 2 cloves garlic, minced

→ Grains

06 - 185 grams long-grain white rice

→ Seasonings

07 - 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
08 - 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
09 - Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

→ Dairy

10 - 120 grams shredded cheddar cheese

# Steps:

01 - Dice the onion and red bell pepper into uniform pieces. Mince the garlic. Measure rice and other ingredients before starting.
02 - Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef in large chunks without breaking it apart and let it brown undisturbed for 3-4 minutes until a deep crust forms. Season with salt and pepper while browning.
03 - When the beef is about 60% cooked, add diced onions and red bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté until onions are translucent, about 3 minutes. Add minced garlic in the final minute and cook until fragrant.
04 - Reduce heat to medium and pour diced tomatoes with chiles around the edges. Stir gently to deglaze the pan and scrape up browned bits. Sprinkle Italian seasoning and simmer uncovered for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
05 - While the sauce simmers, cook rice in a pot with 2 tablespoons of salt added to boiling water. Cook 1-2 minutes less than package instructions to keep rice slightly firm. Drain and reserve 120 ml of pasta water.
06 - Add the drained rice to the skillet with beef mixture. Pour reserved pasta water and Worcestershire sauce over and stir gently to combine all ingredients, ensuring the rice is coated evenly with sauce.
07 - Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top. Cover the skillet and cook over low heat for 5 minutes until cheese melts and ingredients are heated through.

# Notes:

01 - Using room temperature ingredients enhances texture blending. Creating thin, even layers and allowing the skillet to rest before serving improves flavor distribution and serving ease.
