01 -
Set oven temperature to 200°C and allow it to fully preheat.
02 -
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add olive oil, ground beef, chopped onion, and kosher salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and crumbly and onions are softened, 8–10 minutes. Drain excess fat if desired. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and let it absorb, about 2 minutes.
03 -
Coat a 23-centimeter pie plate with nonstick cooking spray. Transfer the beef mixture evenly into the prepared dish.
04 -
In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, buttermilk, and melted butter until completely blended. Add flour and baking powder, whisking until the batter is smooth.
05 -
Pour the prepared batter over the beef mixture in the pie plate. Evenly sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
06 -
Transfer to the oven and bake until the top is golden brown and the center is set, approximately 25 minutes.
07 -
Cut into wedges and serve warm, optionally garnished with pickle slices, ketchup, or burger sauce.
