Sausage-Topped White Pizza (Printable Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Toppings and Crust

01 - 2 hot Italian turkey sausage links, casings removed
02 - 1 prebaked 12-inch thin whole wheat pizza crust
03 - 1 medium sweet red pepper, julienned
04 - 1 small onion, halved and thinly sliced
05 - 1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
06 - 2 cups arugula or baby spinach

→ Seasonings

07 - 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
08 - 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
09 - 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
10 - 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, optional

→ Cheese Mixture

11 - 1 cup reduced-fat ricotta cheese

# Steps:

01 - Preheat oven to 450°F.
02 - In a large skillet, cook and crumble sausage over medium-high heat until no longer pink, 4-6 minutes.
03 - In a small bowl, mix ricotta cheese and garlic powder.
04 - Place the prebaked pizza crust on a baking sheet. Spread with ricotta cheese mixture, then top with cooked sausage, red pepper, and onion. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, freshly ground pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Add mozzarella cheese on top.
05 - Bake on a lower oven rack until the edge is lightly browned and cheese is melted, 8-10 minutes.
06 - Top the baked pizza with arugula or baby spinach before serving.
